From the worksheet attached below, create flash cards for the listed rock vocabulary. Make sure to turn them in with your notebook when due.
Week 3: Rocks
On Monday we will watch two videos, "Rock Types and the Rock Cycle" by Untamed Science (3:45) and "Rocks and Soil" by Bill Nye the Science Guy (23:05). In your class notebook, take notes on at least five (5) interesting facts from the videos for today. Look out for definitions of igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic, and soil.
To do well on the Volcano Quiz Friday, you should study the Volcano Study Guide handed out Wednesday, and the volcano information we added to your class notebook over the past two weeks, most importantly:
Please don't forget that on Friday, in addition to the quiz, your class notebooks are due, your flash cards are due, and your Volcano Art Project is due.
Please fill out the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) chart and add it to your class notebook. Simply printing out the "master version" will not earn you any points.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will finish our unit on volcanoes by taking notes. Since there are a lot of "Volcano Facts" notes, please use the cloze notes worksheet for full points.
