Thursday and Friday we will do the "Measuring Gum" Lab. You will need to follow the instructions in class and turn in your lab write-up on Friday by the end of the class period. If you need to make-up or re-do this lab, you will have to schedule a time before or after school with Mr. Zuber.
Complete the following worksheet on english-to-metric conversions and turn in. Don't forget to include your full first and last name, plus your class period at the top! While there are videos on Khan Academy and YouTube on converting units from English-to-Metric, they use a more advanced method than what we learned in class (at least, all the videos that I could find did).
Today we will learn about the concept and measurement of "density". Below is the slide presentation we will review in class. In your class notebook, you will need to take notes on the 5 slides, and create the chart on slide 6. We will then determine the mass, volume and density of 12 cubes of different materials in class. If you need to make up this lab assignment, you will need to arrange a time before or after school with Mr. Zuber. Do not forget to correctly

NSD Home & School Compact: forms signed by both student and a parent are due to your advisory teacher by Wednesday, 27 August, 7th period. Week 2 Schedule
On Friday and the following Monday, we will set up our science notebooks for the 1st Quarter. Your class notebook counts as a final project for the quarter, and it is very important that you keep your notebook organized, neat, clean, complete, and always do your best work. The instructions for properly preparing your notebook are on the slide presentation below, as are the calendar and cover worksheets.
Our next measurement review is over "volume". We will review the slide presentation below, and you will need to complete the worksheet below (all answers are on the slide presentation).
All students are expected to read, follow, and sign the Nampa School District Home & School Compact. Students are also expected to bring the compact home and have their parents read it, and sign it as well. This is an agreement between the student, parents, teachers, and administration on the duties we all have to help ensure the student's success in school. Students are required to return the Home & School compact signed by both the student and at least one parent by Wednesday, 27 August, to their advisory teacher (7th period).
After we finish our review of "length", we will next review "mass". Remember, although mass and weight are related, they are not the same concept! Below is the slide presentation we will review (with all of the worksheet answers), and the worksheet you need to complete and turn in.
