Throughout the year, we will be using four to five textbooks in the Science Explorer series (Astronomy, Weather & Climate, Earth's Waters, Inside Earth, and Earth's Changing Surface), to supplement in-class instruction.
Students are not allowed to take home classroom copies of our textbooks, we simply don't have enough physical books to allow this. However, students can check out copies of the textbook from the media center (they will need to bring their student ID and have all fines paid), and can also access an online version of the textbook. You can also easily find used copies of these books for purchase online, through retail sites like Amazon.com or Abe's Books. In class (and online), we are using the latest edition, copyright 2009. To access the online version of our Science Explorer textbooks, go to Pearson SuccessNet. On SuccessNet, log in using one of the general student accounts listed below:

Cornell Notes
Unless otherwise instructed, whenever we take notes in class, they should be in your science notebook, and they should be in the Cornell Notes style. You should also remember to always title, date, and put a page number on every page. For instructions on how to use the Cornell Notes style, go here. In my class, as we are in middle school, I do not require the bottom "summary" section of the Cornell Notes style, but it is a good idea to review and then summarize your note-taking. |
