Note: Do not throw away your research or foldable, add them to your notebook when finished! Each student will be assigned a "Solar System Group". Each Solar System Group will then discuss and assign topics for each student to research. Topics include: the Sun, each of the eight major planets, Ceres and the Asteroid Belt, Pluto and the Kuiper Belt, and the Oort Cloud. Each topic must have at least one student assigned to it, students may end up with more than one topic to research. Once a student has one or more research topics, they need to start their research! Students may work alone, or with other students who have the same topic. For example, for all of the students studying Neptune, they may work independently or work with the "Neptune Group". Groups and topics have already been assigned and should be recorded in your class notebook. On Tuesday (21-Oct), we will clarify groups and begin research using in-class materials (textbook, Mr. Zuber's trade books, classroom computers, and student mobile devices). On Wednesday (22-Oct), we will continue research in computer lab 423. If your research is not complete Wednesday, you must finish over the four-day weekend. All research is due Monday, 27-Oct, at the beginning of class. If you are not prepared, you are failing your Solar System Group. On Monday, each group will use the collected research for a new assignment. Further assignments later in the week may use the research as well. There will be a Solar System Quiz on Wednesday, 29-Oct.
