On Thursday, we will study the ocean tides, which are affected by the gravity of the Moon. We will watch a few videos, and then will take brief notes and draw three tidal diagrams into our notebooks. Notes and diagrams should be completed by the end of class. Using their SEM Models, students will be expected to identify the position of the Sun, Earth, and Moon during a neap tide and during a spring tide. Students will also be expected to be able to point out where the high tides and low tides are on the Earth, in respect to the Moon.
On Wednesday, we will take brief notes on solar eclipses and draw a diagram into our notebooks. Notes and diagrams should be completed by the end of class. We will also watch a few short videos on solar eclipses. You will need to know how to demonstrate the positions of the Sun, Earth, and Moon during a solar eclipse with your SEM Model.
